PlayStation Portable
PSP™ sort of PlayStation® Portable made by SONY, the first portable system from SONY and in my opinion this is trully great portable system, except for playing PSP™ games, this system can handle video, listening to music, browsing internet, Location Free Player, RSS reader, and the most interesting is the capabilities to read homebrew (homebrew is a program made by people *out of SONY*) but unfortunetly SONY did'nt allowed their system to read homebrew, this is one of the reasons why SONY keep updating PSP™ firmware, but you know, all the hacker and programmer out there never stop to working and pawn SONY. last year only 1.0 and 1.5 firmware can read homebrew, but now a days, even 2.71 firmware also can read homebrew but not as perfect as 1.5 firmware.

For people who know about games very well, they all never update their firmware larger than 1.5 (when I write this post, PSP™ already reached firmware 2.81) this is the other reason why SONY keep updating their firmware (beside unallowed homebrew) is to tightening their security problem inside PSP™, concerning about backup games (called ISO) actually ISO playback is not bad at all, for me, I play ISO because I want to safe my PSP™ optic lens, so with the backup game (which i owned the games) I put the ISO files into my MemoryStick™ and playback into my PSP™ (we can cut the loading time more than a half) but unfortunetly alot people just download the ISO games from internet / bitorrent (only 1.5 firmware allowed ISO loaded) thats why people avoid to update their firmware. eventhough someone have a firmware higher than 1.5, there's a lot downgrader maded by peoples... some work, some not and some bricked their PSP™, so.. be wised before deciding to do something.
For me, I still have 1.5 as my firmware because I want to play Homebrew, like SNES emulator, GameBoy Advance emulator, PlayStation emulator (which not perfect yet), PSP Radio (listening radio via internet with shoutcast), streaming all files your computer into your PSP™, File explorer, MSN/Yahoo/AIM messenger and a lot more, And lately i realized that I play homebrew games more often than PSP™ games :P but still the PSP™ quality is the best comparing with homebrew.. but you see... imagine in this next generation gaming, you can still play Mario game in your PSP :P so memorable :P
OK thats all about the background of PSP™ :) so now you know and can decide why 1.5 firmware is powerfull and why SONY keep updating their firmware... Oh... i forgot i play ISO also, but i own the UMD™ ;)
